It’s the day after the 2010 Masters…good on ya Phil! And I’m obviously a tad late to this conversation, but it seems like a week after Nike aired their new Tiger Woods spot, there’s still chatter online about this spot. I’m sure you’ve all seen it, but here it is for those who haven’t:
It’s definitely a polarizing ad…some love it, and some hate it. Lot of my friends and colleagues hate it. I personally like it. Not really from an executional standpoint, but more from a strategic perspective. I think it was a necessary and ballsy move by Nike. To me, it’s the start of the “cleansing” process. Before you fix anything, you first have to acknowledge that there is a problem…this ad does just that for me. It’s Nike bringing the spotlight to the elephant in the room so that we can all move on with our lives.
